Update from Provincial Buildings Committee

The Buildings Committee would like to draw your attention to a new document which it has published on the Scottish Episcopal Church website titled “Maintenance and Building Work for your Church - Some Practical Considerations”.

The document can be found here: https://www.scotland.anglican.org/wp-content/uploads/Maintenance-and-Building-Work-for-your-Church-Some-Practical-Considerations-Nov-2021.pdf

It is important that charges are aware of the regulations, and consequent responsibilities, around church building works, particularly in view of recent incidents. It is suggested that you may wish to draw the attention of your Property Convener, or other person responsible for property-related matters, to the above document.

Separately, churches may be interested in new Guidance for Religious Establishments published by the Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure, available here https://www.cpni.gov.uk/system/files/documents/a3/0b/CPNI%20SMC%20for%20Religious%20Establishment%20Guidance%2007%5B1%5D.pdf

The guidance sets out how religious establishments can take relatively simple steps to protect themselves from people seeking to undertake criminal acts.
