The Electoral Process Begins

On Saturday 2nd September, the Electoral Synod of the Diocese of Brechin gathered at the Diocesan Centre in St John the Baptist Church. The meeting had been called following the issue of a mandate by the Primus enabling the election process to begin.
The Electoral Synod is a gathering of all instituted, licensed and Commissioned clergy of the Diocese, the elected lay representatives of congregations and the diocesan lay members of General Synod.
The meeting began with a sung Eucharist in the Church at which the Primus presided and in which he reflected upon the ministry of all disciples and the distinctive ministry of Bishop.
The members of Synod then spent time talking about their hopes and prayers for a new bishop, the gifts and skills that might be looked for and the possibilities and challenges that such an appointment could bring. The meeting concluded with the singing of a last hymn and the blessing.
The Preparatory Committee also met to consider dates, adverts and questions.
Please pray for all involved in this Election and for the Diocese of Brechin as they set out on this journey.
The Election has been called following the retirement of Right Rev Dr Nigel Peyton, 50th Bishop of Brechin.

Most Revd Mark Strange
