New musical director sought for St Andrew’s Brechin

Published

St Andrew’s, Brechin, launched its junior choir in August. Over 20 young people came along weekly on Mondays, after school, for rehearsals. Bernard Liddiard, St Andrew’s organist and an experienced choir master, led the sessions and was assisted by other members of the congregation. The junior choir put on a successful concert to a full church on 19th October.

Both the members (and their parents) want the choir to continue. The next proposed project is a musical contribution to the Christingle service in St Andrew’s Church on Sunday, 23 December. However, St Andrew’s does not have the musical resources to continue to support the choir effectively and so we are seeking the assistance of a musical director. Ideally this would be someone who enjoys working with children, who can help them develop their musical potential and who can organise a suitable repertoire.

There is also the opportunity to develop the instrumental skills of some of the young members. Since the age range of the members is 7 to 12 years, the range of repertoire would be fairly modest. The ability to play piano accompaniments would be helpful. Anyone who feels able to offer their services in this respect is asked to contact Father David Mumford (01356-622708) or Bernard Liddiard (01356-622966)
